Pashinyan: trains could cross Armenia to reach Nakhichevan![]() May 26, 2025 - 14:30 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, speaking at the second Yerevan Dialogue international forum, addressed regional unblocking efforts, stating that trains from Azerbaijan could pass through Armenian passport and border control and reach Nakhichevan, and vice versa. “This is one of Armenia’s proposals to ensure connectivity between Nakhichevan and mainland Azerbaijan,” he stated, as reported by Radar.am . He emphasized that such connectivity is equally important for Armenia. “From Azerbaijan to Azerbaijan—meaning via Nakhichevan through Armenian territory—and from Armenia to Armenia via Azerbaijani territory: the territorial integrity and jurisdiction of each country must be respected,” he said. Pashinyan also commented on an issue related to Azerbaijan’s constitution: “We see that Azerbaijan’s constitution contains certain territorial claims against Armenia. However, we haven’t raised this issue separately, as we believe it will be addressed in the finalized peace agreement text. That is our approach,” he noted. On January 31, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that Armenia had made clear proposals to Azerbaijan on unblocking regional transit routes and was awaiting a response. He emphasized that the most cost-effective and realistic option is a rail route from Azerbaijan to Nakhichevan via Meghri, and vice versa.
