France supports stronger political, economic ties with Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - France is ready to expand and deepen its cooperation with Armenia, said French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noël Barrot during a visit to Yerevan, where he met with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Pashinyan welcomed the delegation, highlighting that relations between the two countries have reached a high level.

Barrot reaffirmed France’s steadfast support for Armenia’s development and capacity building. He emphasized that France is committed to further strengthening political and economic ties with Armenia.

The French minister also congratulated Pashinyan on Armenia being selected to host next year’s European Political Community summit.

Prime Minister Pashinyan noted the growing depth of bilateral cooperation across various sectors and referenced his recent meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron in Tirana, where this view was shared.

The discussions also covered infrastructure development, investment attraction, and the implementation of joint projects.

Both sides exchanged views on regional developments, including the latest in the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace negotiations. Pashinyan reiterated his government’s commitment to the peace agenda.

In a joint press conference with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, Barrot stated that France and Armenia already enjoy strategic-level relations due to their extensive cooperation. “Ararat and I plan to prepare a formal strategic partnership to further institutionalize our existing ties, including in defense,” he said.
