Armenia outlines steps on Rome Statute implementation![]() May 27, 2025 - 12:44 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Head of the Office of the Representative for International Legal Matters, Liparit Drmeyan, met with Osvaldo Zavala Giler, head of the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) office, in Yerevan to present Armenia’s ongoing steps aimed at fully implementing the Rome Statute following its ratification. The importance of expert legal opinions from the ICC regarding proposed legislative amendments was emphasized. The discussion also highlighted the necessity for close cooperation with the ICC to build capacity within Armenia’s law enforcement institutions, particularly for investigating specific types of crimes. The need to expand the ICC’s jurisdiction concerning the crime of aggression was also addressed. The two sides reviewed several recent developments surrounding the ICC and expressed readiness to continue working on issues of mutual interest. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
