Activist slams opposition for ‘blocking impeachment’![]() May 31, 2025 - 14:11 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Political and public figure Edgar Ghazaryan stated that, as of May 30, 2025, no opposition MP in the National Assembly has initiated a vote of no confidence against Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. He criticized MPs for failing to act, saying: “According to 28 of them, it's unserious and unrealistic, and 6 say they have no alternative candidate for Prime Minister.” Ghazaryan expressed confidence that the people would overcome the resistance of lawmakers who, for various reasons, oppose or refuse to initiate impeachment. “Nikol Pashinyan will be removed by the will of the people. Impeachment is the only viable and constitutional path to realize that will,” he wrote. Hayk Mamijanyan, head of the “I Have Honor” faction, recently stated that the Republican Party considers impeachment the most viable current tool for removing the government, rather than street protests. Activists Narek Malyan and Edgar Ghazaryan had earlier sent letters to MPs proposing a vote of no confidence. The “I Have Honor” faction expressed willingness to launch the process but said they would not nominate a candidate for Prime Minister, instead calling for further discussions. The other opposition faction, “Armenia,” questioned the sincerity of the process, suggesting it might aim more at undermining their bloc than removing the government. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
