Opposition MP blames border conditions for teens’ capture![]() June 6, 2025 - 19:12 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Tigran Abrahamyan, Secretary of the "I Have Honor" parliamentary faction, stated that the recent incident in which two underage Armenian citizens ended up under Azerbaijani control near the village of Aravus is a direct result of the general state of the frontline in that area. He shared his views in a Facebook post. “To understand how our two citizens ended up under Azerbaijani control near Aravus, one must be aware of the nature of inter-positional deployments in that sector,” Abrahamyan wrote. “I have been to that area numerous times, and to be honest, I am not surprised—regardless of how or through whose involvement they crossed the frontline.” According to Abrahamyan, the current logic underpinning the configuration of the new frontline gives the impression that Armenia borders a civilized neighbor rather than a state—Azerbaijan—with which it is still technically at war and which harbors territorial ambitions toward Armenia. “I don’t want to delve into the positional specifics, but the responsibility lies with the country’s political and military leadership, which approaches the frontline's strategy from a misguided pacifist standpoint,” he concluded. Earlier, it was reported that two teenage boys, Karen Armeni Jhangiryan (born June 27, 2007) and Andrey Armeni Gyagunts (born January 13, 2008), ended up in Azerbaijani territory after getting lost near the village of Aravus in Syunik Province around 01:20 a.m. on June 6, 2025. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution. President of the Armenian parliament Alen Simonyan met with the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova. ![]() ![]() Partner news | ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
