Armenian teens found safe after getting lost near Azerbaijani border![]() June 7, 2025 - 11:42 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Two boys from the village of Tegh in Armenia’s Syunik Province, Karen Jhangiryan and Andrey Gyagunts, who had gone missing, have been located and are now back in Armenia, according to the National Security Service (NSS), Armenpress reports. Later, the NSS released a statement clarifying that claims about their abduction by Azerbaijanis were not true. "After the two minors from Tegh in Syunik Province were found, conversations with them revealed that they had gotten lost while looking for their pets and were unable to navigate due to fog," the statement reads. The Tegh municipality confirmed to Factor.am that both boys are in good health. Earlier, Armenia’s National Security Service had reported that residents of Tegh—Karen Armeni Jhangiryan (born June 27, 2007) and Andrey Armeni Gyagunts (born January 13, 2008)—had strayed into Azerbaijani territory near the village of Aravus in Syunik around 01:20 a.m. on June 6, 2025, due to disorientation. It was also noted that all necessary measures were being taken to locate them and ensure their safe return. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
