Garni Temple, Stone Symphony, Urartian Yerevan may join UNESCO list

PanARMENIAN.Net - Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of Armenia Zhanna Andreasyan announced that it is planned to include the Garni Temple, the Stone Symphony, and Urartian heritage in Yerevan on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

“For the first time in 29 years, we’ve added a new site to the UNESCO Tentative List — the dragon stones and cultural landscape of Tirin Katar. We will have two more monuments on that list,” Andreasyan said, as reported by Armenpress.

She noted that after a long hiatus, Armenia is actively working to inscribe its monuments on the World Heritage List.

According to the minister, the initiative is supported through budget allocations and consistent institutional efforts.

“We’ve submitted two nominations that are already in the process, and we’ve received some preliminary information. Formal confirmation will follow. The Garni and Stone Symphony form one combined application, and the Urartian heritage of Yerevan is the other,” she stated.

Andreasyan emphasized that Armenia is now making strong progress after a lengthy break.
