Armenia raises POWs issue during Council of Europe meeting

PanARMENIAN.Net - On June 11, Ruben Rubinyan, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia and head of the Armenian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), met with Alain Berset, Secretary General of the Council of Europe, along with other members of the delegation.

During the meeting, the issue of Armenian prisoners of war held in Azerbaijan, individuals subjected to unlawful detention, and missing persons was raised. In this context, the importance of support from the Council of Europe was particularly emphasized.

The two sides also discussed ongoing developments in the region, with special attention to the ongoing peace negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Earlier, Speaker of the National Assembly Alen Simonyan met with Alain Berset and expressed gratitude for his visit to Armenia. Simonyan also presented the issues related to Armenian detainees, illegally held individuals, and missing persons, stressing their importance.
