Pashinyan: we now have direct daily contact with Turkey![]() June 14, 2025 - 12:52 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated at the GLOBSEC 2025 forum in Prague that Armenia and Turkey have developed an active dialogue in recent years. He said the two countries now maintain direct contact, which was not possible before without the mediation of third parties, according to Armenpress. "We've had several constructive meetings with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. True, we still lack tangible results on the ground, but there has been meaningful progress. For example, three years ago, if Armenia wanted to know Turkey’s position on a matter, it had to go through a third country. Today, we have direct contact with our neighbors, even on a daily basis," said Pashinyan. The Prime Minister expressed hope that this progress will eventually lead to the establishment of diplomatic relations, the opening of borders, and the expansion of economic cooperation. He noted that these outcomes are a matter of time. "This is also tied to a broader regional economic agenda. But as I’ve said, we are consistently moving toward a sustainable peace. That’s our duty, and we are determined to achieve it. We also see Turkey’s willingness, and Azerbaijan’s desire for peace. Of course, there are certain nuances to address, but I’m confident we can overcome them," he added. Earlier, the Prime Minister’s spokesperson, Nazeli Baghdasaryan, neither confirmed nor denied rumors about a possible visit by Pashinyan to Ankara and a meeting with President Erdoğan. Previously, 24News, citing a high-ranking diplomatic source, reported that Pashinyan is expected to travel to Ankara on June 20 for talks with Erdoğan. On May 16 in Tirana, Pashinyan had a conversation with the Turkish president. Another meeting between the two leaders took place last September on the sidelines of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire.
