Baghdasaryan: attempts to marginalize Armenia will fail

PanARMENIAN.Net - Baghdasaryan lashes out at Karapetyan, calling his political involvement manipulative and self-degrading.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s press secretary, Nazeli Baghdasaryan, responded to Russian-Armenian businessman Samvel Karapetyan’s recent statement in support of the Armenian Apostolic Church. In a Facebook post, she said attempts to turn Armenia into a remote province “will fail.”

She mocked Karapetyan, referring to him as “a self-appointed saint” and suggesting he was operating with “a classic manual from the North,” trying to interfere in Armenia’s domestic agenda by claiming “we will intervene our way.”

“Is it a blackout or a weak signal on his end?” she wrote. “Either way, let him touch down — his feet have left the ground.”

“Their attempts to turn Armenia into a remote province are futile,” Baghdasaryan declared.

She added: “P.S. Those battling Armenia’s statehood have reappeared. Self-lustration to the end. Shame yourselves thoroughly — don’t stop.”

On the night of June 18, businessman Samvel Karapetyan left his Yerevan residence with law enforcement. Earlier that day, he voiced support for the Church, stating, “I stand with our Church and our people. Let them try to smear us — I don’t care about them or their power grid. Everything will be fine, the people will speak, and they’ll realize they were wrong.”

In response, Prime Minister Pashinyan wrote: “Why have the immoral ‘clergymen’ and their immoral ‘benefactors’ become so active? No worries — we’ll silence them again. This time, for good.” He later announced the Electric Networks of Armenia would be nationalized swiftly.
