Pashinyan denies Security Council meetings linked to Syunik threats

PanARMENIAN.Net - During a press briefing in parliament, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that recent Security Council meetings are not connected to any danger concerning the Syunik region, reports Sputnik Armenia.

Responding to a journalist's question on whether the frequent convening of the Security Council signals a potential threat in Syunik, Pashinyan said such speculation is provocative, baseless, and only serves to incite panic among the public.

“These meetings are not being held because of any danger in Syunik. I consider such claims provocative and misleading, intended to generate anxiety, panic, and uncertainty among Armenian citizens,” he said.

The Prime Minister emphasized that Armenia and Azerbaijan have reached agreement on the provisions of a peace treaty aimed at normalizing bilateral relations.

On the night of June 13, Israel launched military operations against Iran, accusing it of nearing the 'point of no return' in a secret military nuclear program. Targets included nuclear facilities, senior generals, prominent physicists, airbases, air defense systems, and surface-to-surface missiles. Iran denied military components in its program and retaliated with missile strikes and drones, focusing on Israeli military and defense-industrial sites. The sides continue exchanging fire several times daily, with Israel vowing to destroy Iran's nuclear infrastructure and Iran pledging continued attacks until Israeli bombings cease.
