Armenian lawmaker on Turkey trip: geography can't be changed

PanARMENIAN.Net - Vladimir Vardanyan, an MP from the ruling Civil Contract faction and chair of the Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs, commented on Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s visit to Turkey, stating that Armenia is trying to build relations with Turkey within the broader context of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, according to Auroranews.am .

“We must recognize the importance of Armenia-Turkey relations. We cannot change geography, and we should aim to have good-neighborly relations with our neighbors—ones that enable us to shape an environment in this changing world that brings long-lasting and stable peace to the region,” Vardanyan said in response to a question about a possible meeting between Pashinyan and the Azerbaijani president in Turkey or the signing of any document.

It is known that Prime Minister Pashinyan traveled to Turkey at noon today for a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The rest of the visit’s agenda has not been disclosed and remains confidential.

The official delegation, headed by Pashinyan, arrived in Turkey on June 20. It includes Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly and Armenia-Turkey normalization envoy Ruben Rubinyan, and the head of the Police Patrol Service.
