Karapetyan says external security will be rebuilt![]() June 23, 2025 - 12:06 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - In a newly published letter, businessman and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan, currently detained for two months, states that “our external security will soon be rebuilt.” He criticizes the current authorities for, in his view, completely dismantling the country’s external security, damaging ties with its key strategic and military allies, and promoting illusions of peace. “As a result,” he writes, “several axes now hang over our country—Turkey, Azerbaijan, and even Pakistan.” Karapetyan laments the loss of Artsakh, which he describes as a historic and blood-defended Armenian territory. He accuses the government of handing over parts of Armenia under false promises of peace, dismantling the military, and reducing border protection to “a few binoculars in the hands of obscure individuals.” He claims that Armenia’s dignity has been devalued by “cheap diplomacy” and subservient foreign policy behavior. He concludes: “Soon our external security will be rebuilt, and our dignity quickly restored. We will fight.” On the night of June 18, Samvel Karapetyan left his Yerevan residence with law enforcement. Later it was announced he had been questioned by the Investigative Committee and subsequently detained for two months on charges of making public calls to seize government authority. A few hours earlier, Karapetyan had issued a strong statement supporting the Armenian Apostolic Church, saying: “I stand with our church and our people. No matter how they try to defame it—whatever power grid they run—I don’t care about them or their electricity network. Everything will be fine. The people will speak, and they will understand their mistake.” In response, Prime Minister Pashinyan posted: “Why have the promiscuous ‘clergy’ and their promiscuous ‘benefactors’ become active again? Never mind—we’ll silence them once more. This time, permanently.” He later added that the power grid (Electric Networks of Armenia) should be rapidly nationalized. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution. President of the Armenian parliament Alen Simonyan met with the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova. ![]() ![]() Partner news | ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
