Abrahamyan: Coup plot a poorly written story

PanARMENIAN.Net - Tigran Abrahamyan, secretary of the “I Have Honor” parliamentary faction, addressed the so-called “coup plan” published a day earlier, speaking at the Tekeyan Cultural Center. He characterized it as a clear signal that further arrests are planned.

“This time, the authorities have employed scriptwriters utterly devoid of talent... It defies all logic to accuse the people listed by the Investigative Committee of terrorism,” Abrahamyan said, as reported by Panorama.am.

He noted that while the Investigative Committee’s statement attempted to add certain details to make the actions appear credible, the nature of the move remains unchanged.

According to Abrahamyan, the government is trying to deploy the state apparatus and waste public funds in order to overwhelm political figures with legal cases. This, he argues, is meant to prevent attention from being paid to crucial political issues—especially in light of the significant period leading up to 2026.

“The most ridiculous situation is within the law enforcement system, which, instead of addressing the country’s rising crime, is busy executing political agendas and indulging the Prime Minister’s preferences,” the MP added.

On the morning of June 25, law enforcement began searches at the homes of “Sacred Struggle” movement supporters. The Investigative Committee claimed the group’s members and leaders were planning terrorist actions and a power grab in Armenia.

On June 24, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan shared a civic.am article titled “The Opposition’s Coup Plan” on his Facebook page, commenting: “This process will be remembered in history as the ‘failed coup of the traitors.’”
