RA Foreign Ministry rejects corridor framing by Erdoğan

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia reiterated that its approach to regional transport reactivation is rooted in sovereignty and national jurisdiction.

Ani Badalyan, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, has responded to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s recent comments regarding the unblocking of regional transport routes. She stated that Armenia’s vision for unblocking is firmly anchored in the principles of sovereignty and national jurisdiction, according to Armenpress.

Erdoğan had once again referenced the opening of regional communications, using the term “corridor” and claiming that Armenia was adopting a more flexible stance to participate in economic integration processes.

“Armenia has always been and remains committed to enhancing regional connectivity and fostering economic development. It is in this context that the Republic of Armenia proposed the Crossroads of Peace initiative, supported by related ideas, solutions, and constructive proposals. We believe these efforts can yield mutually beneficial outcomes for both regional countries and broader partners interested in the expansion of transport networks,” the statement read.

“As before, Armenia’s vision for reopening transport infrastructure in the region is based on fundamental principles—sovereignty and national jurisdiction over routes—and, as is well known, does not imply any other logic. Discussions with interested partners are ongoing,” the Ministry’s statement concluded.
