MP: invasion of Catholicosate area imminent

PanARMENIAN.Net - Member of Parliament Arthur Sargsyan, recently stripped of his parliamentary immunity, stated outside the Investigative Committee that an invasion of the Mother See’s premises is imminent.

“What’s happening today in our country is a battle between God and the devil,” Sargsyan told reporters, as reported by Panorama.am .

“I’ve been fighting since November 9, 2020, and I’m still fighting. I’m not tired or discouraged. I will continue until we achieve our goal. This isn’t about me or any party—it’s about whether or not we have a homeland and a church. I’m convinced the Armenian nation will rise up and remove the authorities,” he said.

Sargsyan called on the public to unite in resisting the government.

“I didn’t even wait for the Parliament vote; I came here on my own. Anything can be expected from them,” he added.

Sargsyan described the charges that led to the arrest of Archbishops Bagrat and Mikael as “false” and “fabricated.”

“It’s all a balloon. I express my support to the bishops and wish strength and resilience to our 16 comrades in the struggle. Our fight will reach its goal, and it will be victorious,” he concluded.

The Armenian National Assembly is currently considering a request by Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan to authorize the arrest of Sargsyan, a member of the “Hayastan” parliamentary faction. The motion is part of a criminal case alleging that leaders and participants of the Sacred Struggle movement were preparing acts of terrorism and an illegal seizure of power.
