Armenia, Iran reaffirm peace, security goals![]() July 10, 2025 - 18:40 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - On July 10, Sargis Khandanyan, Chair of the Armenian National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, hosted Iranian Ambassador Mehdi Sobhani. During the meeting, the two discussed bilateral cooperation between Armenia and Iran, emphasizing opportunities to strengthen interparliamentary ties and addressing current regional developments. Both sides underlined the importance of efforts aimed at enhancing security and establishing peace and stability in the region. Ambassador Sobhani noted that certain terms used in the communiqué adopted following the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) summit—which undermine Armenia’s territorial integrity—do not reflect Iran’s official position. Iran has submitted a formal letter to the ECO expressing its reservations regarding these points. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
