Armenia’s UN envoy elected ECOSOC vice president

PanARMENIAN.Net - Paruyr Hovhannisyan, Armenia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, has been elected Vice President of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) for the 2026 session, according to the UN News Service.

Other elected vice presidents for the 2026 ECOSOC session include Amar Bendjama of Algeria (Africa), Wellington Dario Bencosme Castellanos of the Dominican Republic (Latin America and the Caribbean), and Héctor José Gómez Hernández of Spain (Western Europe and other states).

Paruyr Hovhannisyan previously served as Armenia’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
