Armenian, Azerbaijani speakers meet in Geneva![]() October 21, 2025 - 14:58 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Within the framework of the 151st Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Geneva, Armenian National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan met with Sahiba Gafarova, Chair of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis. The sides welcomed the agreements reached in Washington and expressed a positive view of ongoing initiatives aimed at normalizing bilateral relations. They underscored the importance of continuing constructive dialogue and affirmed their readiness to support confidence-building efforts at the parliamentary level. On August 8, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a joint Declaration at the White House. During the same event, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, in the presence of the three leaders, pre-signed an agreement titled “On the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan.” Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire.
