Malkhas Amoyan nominated for UWW wrestler of the year

Malkhas Amoyan, bronze medalist at the Paris Olympics, two-time world champion, and four-time European champion, has been included in the list of the best Greco-Roman wrestlers of 2025 compiled by United World Wrestling (UWW).

UWW has launched a public vote to determine the top athlete of the year. Amoyan’s main competitors in the poll are mostly Iranian athletes—Mohammadhadi Saravi (97 kg), Gholamreza Farouhi (82 kg), and Saeid Esmaeili (67 kg)—as well as Uzbekistan’s Ayzhan Khalmakhanov (63 kg).

In 2025, Amoyan won both the World and European Championships and triumphed at the prestigious Poland Open tournament held in Warsaw.
