Armenian Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan and Hikmet Hajiyev, advisor to the President of Azerbaijan, gave a joint interview to Euronews in Doha, reaffirming both countries’ “willingness to act jointly.”

They detailed the peace negotiations, noting they began in 2020 with support from the European Union and culminated in a preliminary peace agreement backed by U.S. President Donald Trump.

“In a region long mired in war and tension, where reconciliation once seemed impossible, the two nations have found common ground, not just for peace, but for shared economic revival,” the article stated.

Grigoryan acknowledged that mistrust is a common trait in conflicts but emphasized ongoing efforts by both Armenia and Azerbaijan to build mutual trust.

“As the famous song says, ‘just another brick in the wall’, in the positive sense of the phrase,” he said. “We are trying to build that wall of trust and move forward.”

Hajiyev described the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace process as a global success story against a backdrop of ongoing wars, stating the conflict’s chapter is closed and lasting peace is in place. He added both countries are now transitioning toward major regional economic development, aligning with their mutual interests.

Grigoryan expressed confidence that implementing regional economic projects would increase interdependence, strengthen peace, and bring economic benefits.

Both officials stressed that the peace process is designed for future generations and is irreversible. They underlined joint efforts to reinforce mutual trust.

Discussing the Trump Route project, they said its realization could “completely reshape the transport map of the Eurasian continent.”

Grigoryan and Hajiyev concluded by stating the two countries must now look toward a shared future.
