Chinese Ambassador to Armenia Li Xinwei announced that trade between Armenia and China reached $1.79 billion from January to October 2025, an increase of 22.5% compared to the same period in 2024, Sputnik Armenia reports.
Tourism from China also grew, with 34,000 Chinese nationals visiting Armenia this year, exceeding last year’s figure.
Li noted that since September 2024, China Southern Airlines has operated flights between Urumqi and Yerevan, and the number of these flights is expected to increase soon.
He emphasized that 2025 has been a key year for advancing Armenia–China relations. Armenia has joined the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, and Armenian producers actively participated in major Chinese trade expos, including the China International Import Expo (CIIE), the Canton Fair, and the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS).
According to the ambassador, Chinese consumers have shown strong interest in high-quality Armenian products, particularly Ararat brandy.
He also spoke about expanding humanitarian cooperation, highlighting growing ties between universities and think tanks. China, he added, is also supporting infrastructure modernization initiatives in Armenia.
In August 2025, during Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s official visit to Beijing, the two countries signed a strategic partnership agreement.
