
Winners of the Best in Sports of the Year awards organized by Armenia’s Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports have been announced.
Based on votes from 15 accredited sports journalists, the top athletes of the year were named as Varazdat Lalayan (weightlifting), Malkhas Amoyan (wrestling), and Arthur Davtyan (gymnastics).
The best female athlete title went to weightlifter Alexandra Grigoryan.
In the category of athletes with disabilities, chess player Sargis Sargsyan was awarded. The futsal national team was recognized as the team of the year.
Gaspar Terteryan, a wrestler, won in the best young athlete category, while karateka Suren Harutyunyan was named the sports breakthrough of the year.
Gymnast Hamlet Manukyan was honored as the athlete who represented Armenia best in international arenas.
The best coach award went to Pashik Alaverdyan, a merited weightlifting coach.
Online voting for the Audience Choice category remains open until 5:00 p.m.
The annual competition aims to recognize athletes and coaches who achieved notable success or made significant contributions to promoting Armenia’s international standing, national values, and state symbols through sports.
