Former footballer and coach Arman Sargsyan has developed his own coaching method, combining the intensity of European football with the American coaching system and enriching it with elements of developmental psychology.
In his book "Beyond the Field: Building Champions in Life and Football," he shares his personal experience, emphasizing that football is not an end goal but a means.
Sargsyan's story begins in Yerevan, at the Urarartu football club, where he played as a professional footballer for twelve years. Those years shaped him, teaching discipline, teamwork, and psychological resilience—traits that later became the foundation of his coaching philosophy. After relocating to Los Angeles, he decided to dedicate his accumulated experience to coaching.
His message is clear: the greatest victories are recorded not on the playing field, but on the journey of life, and the strong character forged through sports serves as a solid foundation for success in any field.
Sargsyan presents a distinctive methodology in his book that is already being applied by many coaches in their training programs today. As a result of this approach, they have observed that footballers have become more focused, more psychologically resilient, and better at understanding game tactics. The method has also received recognition from UEFA-licensed specialists, who have emphasized that it aligns with modern European standards and delivers tangible benefits to player development. All of this demonstrates that Sargsyan’s book is not merely a theoretical work, but a practically valuable resource that is already having a positive impact within the coaching community.
Over the years, Sargsyan has obtained several important certifications that attest to his high level of professionalism: the 11v11 License and 9v9 Grassroots License issued by the U.S. Soccer Federation, as well as a Grassroots 7v7 coaching license. Additionally, he is a certified scout with the Professional Football Scouting Association and is a member of the U.S. Soccer Coaching Network.
As a result, he creates an environment where children not only learn to play football but also develop the personal qualities and skills necessary for achieving success in life.
For Sargsyan, football is never just a game; it is a powerful tool for personal development. Each training session transforms into more than just a series of technical exercises; it becomes a process of character building. Athletes learn self-confidence, discipline, responsibility for their actions, focus, and emotional resilience. He teaches his students to view defeat as an opportunity for learning and to achieve growth and development by overcoming challenges, not only in sports but in life as well.
Arman Sargsyan is not just a coach; he is also a role model and a friend for the younger generation, guiding his students to become leaders both on and off the field. Each young footballer shaped by Sargsyan learns not only to play and win in sports but also to achieve victories in life.
