In a message marking the 34th anniversary of the Football Federation of Armenia (FFA), its president Armen Melikbekyan reflected on the sport’s evolution and outlined future ambitions.
Melikbekyan stated that Armenia is actively working to host major international football tournaments.
“Armenian football has taken a complex path of development over these years. Today, we stand at a critical juncture where the foundations for both present and future success are being laid. Our new development strategies, structural reforms, and international partnerships all serve one purpose: the steady progress of Armenian football,” he said.
He highlighted a major recent milestone: Armenia’s national futsal team qualified for the European Championship for the first time in history—a source of pride and belief for the entire football community.
Melikbekyan also confirmed Armenia is moving forward in its efforts to host large-scale international competitions. Armenia and Georgia are jointly bidding to host the FIFA U-20 World Cup, a step he described as a major opportunity for youth development, infrastructure growth, and the overall football ecosystem.
“Thirty-four years is a landmark. It's history, experience, and responsibility toward the future. On this anniversary of the Football Federation of Armenia, I congratulate all fans, players, coaches, clubs, and partners. Together, we will continue to build a stable and competitive future for Armenian football,” his message concluded.
