Ishkhan Saghatelyan, MP and representative of the ARF Supreme Body, said that ahead of the upcoming elections, discussions are underway with various political forces and individuals around the Armenia Alliance as a base. However, cooperation after the elections will be shaped by how things unfold.
Asked why they chose to run as part of a pre-election alliance rather than independently, Saghatelyan explained that overcoming the electoral threshold is not a concern for them, Radar Armenia reports.
“But we are not aiming just to enter parliament or gain 4–5 or even 10 seats. Our goal is to form large opposition blocs that will consolidate their efforts and achieve stronger results,” he said.
When asked whether they are willing to cooperate after the elections with the Mer Dzevov (Our Way) movement, which has ruled out pre-election alliances, Saghatelyan called that a normal approach.
“It’s quite normal for different opposition forces to run separately with their own agendas. However, there are crucial issues during the campaign period, ranging from safeguarding the legitimacy of the elections to protecting political prisoners, where cooperation is essential. As for post-election cooperation, life and time will tell. We will see who is involved, at what level, and what role they play.
If the removal of this government depends on our cooperation, we are ready to work with other opposition forces, and we expect the same from them,” he said.
Parliamentary elections in Armenia are scheduled for June 7, 2026.
