Hayakve plans joint front in elections

The Hayakve initiative has announced that it will participate in the upcoming elections together with other like-minded forces.

“Taking into account the current realities, we will combine our efforts with other organizations and structures that share our views. We must act as a united front to prevent the dispersion of voters’ ballots, defeat this regime and achieve a genuine change of power,” said Avetik Chalabyan, co-founder of the initiative, Panorama.am reports.

Chalabyan did not specify which political forces would join them, noting that this would be announced later once all sides involved in the process are confirmed, as premature disclosure could be viewed as a breach of negotiating ethics. He urged journalists to be patient.

If elected, Hayakve has pledged to make general education 11 years long, raise pensions, increase defense spending, make military service attractive and honorable, and eliminate divisions within society.

Chalabyan said that in a complex regional environment, preserving statehood requires multiplying efforts and defending the country through its own real potential.

“To that end, we will consolidate our society in confronting external threats and mitigate or eliminate the divisions created by this regime. We will consistently strengthen our army,” he said.

The initiative also stated that it has developed a program for the development of education and science with a national orientation. Member Menua Soghomonyan said that in the modern world security begins not in the trenches but in classrooms and laboratories.

“We will not allow the lights of schools in border communities to go out, and no schools in border villages will be closed. We will make general education 11 years long and free students and their families from dependence on private tutors. Twelve-year education has not justified itself,” he said.

Presenting the security agenda, Avetik Kerobyan stated: “Our goal will be to inflict irreparable losses on the enemy in the event of external aggression. Before attacking our country, our adversaries must think long and abandon such intentions. We must be the hedgehog with sharp, long spines, with whom one should seek only peace.”

Economist Hrayr Kamendatyan noted that the current pension of 36,000 drams is sufficient only to avoid starvation.

“We are conducting a campaign regarding pensioners and declare that the very next day after becoming part of the government we will begin work so that over the next two years pensions increase by 50 percent, with annual indexation,” Kamendatyan said.

Parliamentary elections in Armenia are scheduled for June 7, 2026.
