Armenia works with EU on democratic resilience: MFA

Armenia continues cooperation with the European Union to strengthen democratic resilience, the Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said, responding to reports about seeking EU assistance to counter disinformation.

Armenia has continued cooperation aimed at strengthening democratic resilience, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Ani Badalyan said, according to «Factor.am ».

She was responding to a publication by RFE/RL regarding the possible deployment of an EU “Hybrid Rapid Response Team” to Armenia to counter Russian disinformation during elections.

Back in December 2025, Ani Badalyan stated that cooperation between Armenia and the EU in various areas, including countering hybrid threats, has been ongoing and did not begin recently.

Earlier, it was reported that, according to a letter obtained by a media outlet, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan on February 13 requested from Brussels the dispatch of a rapid response team to Yerevan.

The EU had sent a similar team to Moldova during the 2025 parliamentary elections, consisting of about 20 people. They worked jointly with Moldovan authorities to promptly detect and counter disinformation spread on social networks from Russia.

It was noted that “the assistance offered to Armenia should be clearly aimed at reducing and mitigating Russia’s destabilizing activities.”
