A new decision on electric vehicle property tax will be adopted within the coming month, National Assembly deputy Babken Tunyan said, according to Aysor.am .
According to him, technical documentation for electric vehicles often indicates higher engine power than the vehicle actually has.
“Many of our drivers undergo quite costly examinations and obtain some kind of certificate or statement confirming that the vehicle’s horsepower is lower, in order to pay less property tax. We discussed this issue with the government, and last year I informed the public that the government would present an appropriate solution. I have checked with our colleagues, and they said the draft decision is already in circulation and will be adopted and published within the next month,” Tunyan stated.
He noted that the change will apply to the 2026 property tax and will not affect payments for the previous year.
“The deadline for paying the 2026 property tax is December 1. This means our citizens have absolutely no need to pay property tax at this moment, and even when undergoing technical inspection, it is no longer necessary to pay the full property tax for the given year,” he added.
