Аrmenia, EU discuss defense cooperation prospects

Armenia’s Defense Minister Suren Papikyan met on March 13 in Brussels with Andrius Kubilius, the European Union Commissioner for Defence and Space, to discuss prospects for cooperation in the defense sector.

During the meeting, the sides reviewed possible areas and future development of Armenia–EU defense cooperation.

They also addressed a number of issues related to regional and international security.

Earlier, on March 12, Papikyan met with Belgium’s Minister of Defense and Foreign Trade Theo Francken, where they discussed issues related to Armenia–Belgium defense cooperation.

During that meeting, the sides highlighted the significant potential for developing cooperation in areas such as military education, professional training, military medicine, peacekeeping and humanitarian demining, agreeing to continue efforts aimed at expanding bilateral interaction.
