A regular meeting of the Constitutional Reform Council was held under the leadership of Justice Minister Srbuhi Galyan, where participants discussed regulations on the adoption, amendment, and referendum procedures of the Constitution.
Issues related to the executive branch were also addressed.
Council member Daniel Ioannisyan presented provisions he authored concerning the right to internet access, highlighting its importance in a modern democratic society and in ensuring fundamental human rights.
During the discussion, participants shared their observations, proposals, and professional assessments aimed at improving the presented drafts. The council continues its work on drafting a new Constitution.
Earlier, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, presenting the principles of the “Real Armenia” ideology, emphasized the importance of adopting a new Constitution.
He noted that adopting a new Constitution through a nationwide referendum is crucial, as previous referendums are perceived by the public as lacking sufficient legitimacy.
Pashinyan also stated that the main goal of the new Constitution is to move away from what he described as a “residual model of a stateless nation” and to form a state-building society based on constitutional harmony and democratic participation.
