Mirzoyan declines comment on Vardanyan remarks![]() May 27, 2026 - 14:51 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - It is incorrect to comment on statements made by people held in captivity, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said while addressing remarks by businessman and philanthropist Ruben Vardanyan, who is imprisoned in Baku. “I do not consider it appropriate to comment on any statement made by a person being held captive or hostage. I may have my own assumptions regarding the motivation, I may consider the statement logical or illogical, and so on. But I will make an effort to refrain from any comment, because I do not consider it correct,” he said, according to Panorama.am. Commenting on the program concerning the return of 300,000 Azerbaijanis, Mirzoyan described it as “a product of a sick imagination, absurdity and villainy.” “I want to say that in the past I can recall numerous statements, claims and assurances from opposing circles. We remember the myths about a pre-signed agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, we remember the myths about the August 8 declaration, we remember the myths about the corridor, when they said there would be a corridor,” he said. Former Artsakh State Minister Ruben Vardanyan addressed the public in an Armenian-language message, speaking about the current situation in Armenia. He said that “it is the people who choose Kaj Nazar as king; he does not become king on his own,” adding that Armenia’s future is in its own hands, not someone else’s. He also said he fears that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan “faces severe punishment.” Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution. President of the Armenian parliament Alen Simonyan met with the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova. Partner news |
