Coach signals lineup changes against Moldova

Armenia national football team head coach Yeghishe Melikyan has announced changes to the squad ahead of the friendly match against Moldova, scheduled for June 8 at the Republican Stadium.

“I am confident that we are on the right path,” Melikyan said, according to Panorama.am .

He noted that the team is experiencing some fatigue following its previous match, but stressed that the players’ motivation remains high.

“We have made changes, and you will see newcomers on the field who will be in the starting lineup for the first time. I understand that we need a victory, but we have a direction and objectives. If we focus only on winning and do not experiment, that would not be the right approach. I also want us to win, but my priority in these friendly matches is to better understand many aspects of the team. I have taken such risks; if they pay off, we will be in a better position in the autumn. If not, we still have time to make adjustments and rethink things,” he said.

The head coach also addressed assessments of his work.

“I do not need anyone’s forgiveness. I know my job and my place very well. I am not in a position where I would allow others to forgive me or not forgive me. People may believe in me or may not. If they believe, I will work; if they do not, I will not stay even for a single day. I am not afraid of losing my job,” Melikyan stated.

Armenia midfielder Narek Grigoryan, who also attended the press conference, said he is in good form and fully prepared for the upcoming match.

“The team has prepared well. We know what we need to do on the pitch. We will do everything possible to make our supporters happy with a victory,” he said.

According to the midfielder, Moldova is a strong opponent, and the team has carefully studied both its strengths and weaknesses.

“By making use of our own strengths, we will try to achieve a positive result,” Grigoryan added.
