Ter-Petrosyan did not vote in parliamentary election![]() June 10, 2026 - 18:31 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia’s first president, Levon Ter-Petrosyan, did not take part in the voting for the National Assembly elections. The information emerged from the signed voter lists published by the Central Electoral Commission, Factor.am reports. According to the same records, Ter-Petrosyan’s wife, Lyudmila Ter-Petrosyan, and his grandson, Levon Ter-Petrosyan, also did not participate in the vote. The first president’s spokesman, Arman Musinyan, likewise did not cast a ballot. However, he did not comment on the reasons for his absence from the voting process. The Armenian National Congress (ANC) participated in the election with a list headed by Levon Zurabyan. However, it is notable that after the ANC had already announced its participation in the election, Levon Ter-Petrosyan publicly expressed support for another political force competing in the vote — the Strong Armenia party led by Samvel Karapetyan. Ter-Petrosyan had written that “the only force capable of uniting the fragmented opposition is Samvel Karapetyan.” According to preliminary official data published by the Central Electoral Commission, the Armenian National Congress received 3,206 votes out of 1,476,597 ballots cast in the election. Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution. President of the Armenian parliament Alen Simonyan met with the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova. Partner news |
