The tender for the construction of an overpass at the transport interchange linking the Artashat Highway–M2–North–South interstate highway with Noragavit 1st Street has been completed, and a winning company has been selected, Acting Director of the Municipal Construction Investment Projects Implementation Office Aneta Babayan said during a Yerevan City Hall planning meeting.
According to Babayan, the procurement process has been completed, with both the technical supervision provider and the construction contractor selected. A contract has already been signed with one of the companies, while the agreement with the other is in its final signing stage. The project's total investment value amounts to 1.3 billion drams, Sputnik Armenia reported.
Babayan said that up to 400 million drams in funding will be required to launch the project in 2026. She added that all necessary documentation is ready and construction can begin immediately once financing is allocated.
She also announced that an international consulting company is already working on the design of a 2.5-kilometre bypass road, 25 metres wide, that will connect Tbilisi Highway with Yeghvard Highway.
The new road is intended to ease traffic flows and reduce congestion on the Davtashen Bridge.
Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan stressed that the project is of strategic importance for the capital. He said the plan includes the construction of bridges, while the M-4 highway will be linked to the North–South bypass, providing Tbilisyan Highway with a direct connection to that route.
According to the mayor, this is one of Yerevan's largest and most significant infrastructure projects. He added that two bridges are planned across the Korea Gorge and expressed confidence that the new road will significantly reduce traffic congestion in the capital.
