Caucasus 2009 trainings launched in South Russia
Caucasus 2009 operative-strategic trainings have been launched in South Russia. The trainings which will last till June 6, 2009, aim to make real assessment military and mobilization capacity of the troops deployed in the south-west of Russia. They are organized for united and military units from South Caucasus Military Region, as well as interacting and subordinate military structures from Air Defense Army and Anti-Aircraft Defense, Caspian flotilla, Novorosiysk's marine-military bases, FSB's South Federal regions frontier administration and South Caucasian regional headquarters of Russian Interior Ministry's police and air-tank defense forces.

The trainings will take place in Krasnodar and Stavropol territories, Astrakhan, Volgograd and Rostov regions, as well as in Karachai-Cherkess and Chechen Republics. One of training stages will be devoted to special counterterrorism operations against heads and participants of terrorist organizations. Trainings will also focus on a specter of possible military measures towards ensuring Russian citizens' security, as well as important transportation and energy communications, strategic objects and measures towards protecting Russia's interests in South-Western region. During trainings, troops will use the experience acquired during peace operations in Georgia.
