Another suspect jailed in Tsarukyan case

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia's Investigative Committee has announced that another alleged member of the criminal group in the case involving Prosperous Armenia Party leader and businessman Gagik Tsarukyan has been placed in pretrial detention, according to 1Lurer.am .

Earlier, authorities reported that another alleged member of the same criminal group had been remanded in custody, while one more individual had been detained.

The Investigative Committee previously said it had obtained evidence indicating that, at Tsarukyan's direction, several individuals allegedly committed especially large-scale fraud and money laundering between 2022 and 2024.

As part of more than a dozen criminal proceedings being investigated by the committee, simultaneous searches were carried out on July 6 at more than 70 locations. Following the searches, Gagik Tsarukyan and another alleged member of the criminal group were detained on charges of especially large-scale fraud and money laundering, while an arrest warrant was issued for another suspected member of the group.

Beginning early on July 6, officers of the National Security Service, the State Revenue Committee and the Ministry of Internal Affairs conducted simultaneous searches at more than 70 locations, including Tsarukyan's residence and companies linked to him. Tsarukyan was detained. On July 7, the Court of First Instance of the Avan and Nor Nork administrative districts ordered him held in pretrial detention for two months.
