
The Armenian government has reallocated 57.75 million drams from the capital expenditure budget of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport.
The decision provides funding for the acquisition of land plots required for the construction of a UEFA-standard football stadium in the administrative territory of Geghahovit, a settlement in the Ijevan community of Tavush Province.
Armenia is scheduled to host the 2029 FIFA U-20 World Cup. To that end, the football federations of Armenia and Georgia submitted a joint bid, which has already been approved.
One of the key requirements for hosting the tournament is the availability in Armenia of a stadium that meets UEFA Category 4 standards.
