Armenia's State Revenue Committee (SRC) has uncovered approximately 619 million drams in alleged hidden turnover and about 340 million drams in underreported wages.
In particular, the 12th territorial division of the SRC's Investigation and Operational Intelligence Department received information that a chain of stores selling food and non-food products in Yerevan and Ashtarak, Aragatsotn Province, collected cash payments for goods but did not issue cash-register receipts in every case. Instead, customers were given internal accounting documents, which, according to the information received, were used to evade taxes on an especially large scale.
The information was confirmed following comprehensive and large-scale operational and investigative measures carried out to verify and act on the intelligence. Evidence and circumstances were obtained indicating that the LLC concealed approximately 619 million drams in sales turnover between July 1, 2023, and June 30, 2025.
At the same time, authorities found that wages and other equivalent payments made to employees had allegedly been underreported by about 340 million drams. As a result, the company's total uncalculated and unpaid tax liabilities amounted to approximately 260 million drams.
A report on the case was submitted to the Main Department for Investigation of Economic Crimes and Smuggling of Armenia's Investigative Committee, where criminal proceedings were initiated.
The SRC reminded taxpayers engaged in retail trade that, under current regulations, registering proceeds from sales through a cash register is mandatory. Repeated failure to comply with this requirement may also indicate offenses stipulated by Armenia's Criminal Code.
The SRC urged businesses to comply with legal requirements, refrain from unlawful practices and provide customers with official cash-register receipts instead of internal accounting receipts.
Notice: A person accused of a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedure established by Armenia's Criminal Procedure Code through a court judgment that has entered into legal force.
