OSCE MG distorted essence of NKR conflict
Proposals advanced by OSCE MG Co-Chairs dealing with NKR conflict settlement have not changed in question. As before, mediators force Armenian side to hand over certain territories to Azerbaijan, NKR ex-Foreign Minister Arman Melikyan told a news conference in Yerevan. "Mediators exert pressure on conflicting parties. But it's impossible to do without pressures, as there are many countries having serious interests. Armenia's task in the current situation is to formulate its interests and make every possible effort to protect them on international arena," Arman Melikyan said, stressing the basic interest of Armenian side, i.e. maintaining NKR's present-day territory and protecting the rights of over 500 thousand Armenian refugees.

Madrid Principles, according to Melikyan, do not clearly define any issue, "Armenia's signing the document will mean that the country recognizes Karabakh within the boundaries of Nagorno Karabakh Autonomous Region. We are currently facing a complicated situation. Nevertheless, it is possible to find some way out, e.g. to initiate a parallel process of recognizing NKR independence," the speaker said, adding that mediators had distorted the essence of NKR conflict, in an attempt to provide legal vs. political solution to the problem.
