TURKISH ANALYST THINKS NAGORNO-KARABAKH CONFLICT SETTLEMENT ISSUE MUST BE SETTLED THROUGH TERRITORY EXCHANGEApril 25, 2002 - 23:08 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Today in his interview with «Arminfo» agency correspondent analyst from Turkey Yalim Yeralp has reported the issue of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement must be settled through territory exchange. According to him, there are two ways of the conflict settlement: either Nagorno-Karabakh will have considerable autonomy degree in Azerbaijan's structure having Lachin as a corridor joining it and Armenia and Armenia will give Azerbaijan Meghri corridor joining Azerbaijan and Nakhichevan. Or there has to be mutual territory exchange: territories «occupied» by Armenia will be given to Azerbaijan in exchange for Nagorno-Karabakh and Lachin. Yeralp, touching Turkey's recognition of the 1915Armenian Genocide has stated, in his opinion, an International Committee of the scientists should be set up for the settlement of this issue. Besides historians of Armenia and Turkey, the Committee should include experts form indifferent countries.![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
