Realize your Potentials - new Web site launched by Unison NGO
Realize your Potentials - a new Web site launched by Unison NGO - was developed within the frames of Equal Opportunities project, implemented since October 2006 under the support of OSI Assistance Foundation Armenia and the Government of Netherlands.

The Web site available at www.job.disability.am aims promote employment opportunities among people with limited capacities, Unison NGO's Executive Director Armen Alavedyan said. "People with disabilities are ready to work if employer ensures minimal working conditions," he told journalists Thursday. That, according to him. requires construction of additional buildings and there's no need for large-scale investments. If employer is a serious company, that shouldn't create any obstacles. People with limited capacities are more vulnerable on employment marker. In Armenia, only 8% of those employable have jobs.

Under a state-funded social program those individuals receive partial salary compensation, with a certain sum covered by the state and the remaining part paid by employer, Alaverdyan said. However, the sum does not exceed the established minimal amount (AMD 30 thousand).

Several companies, including VivaCell-MTS have adopted a special employment policy for individuals with limited capacities. Orange has already issued its permission for the implementation of a similar social program. "We have already submitted data of 30 candidates and hope that at least some of them will be have jobs," Alaverdyan said. There is also an agreement with ICON. Although the company hasn't promised to grant any privileges, it has agreed to employ such individuals on equal bases, Head of Unison NGO said.

In that context, he referred to the book fair organized last year with the participation 30 companies, "That's an indirect evidence that the companies are ready to cooperate with and employ individuals with disabilities," he noted.

In its efforts to attain concrete results, Unison NGO attaches importance to raising awareness among employers and individuals with limited capacities, Alaverdyan noted. "In view of present-day market relations when employers seek highly qualified human resources, the Web site will be useful," he said.
