Memorial plaque in honor of writer Konstan Zaryan in Yerevan unveiled
Memorial plaque was established August 27 in Yerevan, on the facade of the building, where the writer Konstant Zaryan and his son, architect Armen Zaryan lived.

The ceremony was attended by the grandson of the writer Ara Zaryan, chairmen of writers' and architects' unions Levon Ananyan and Mkrtich Minasyan, director of the Museum of Architecture Ashot Grigoryan, colleagues and friends of the Zaryans family.

"Kostan Zaryan was an outstanding Armenian writer, publicist and poet of the twentieth century, his books "Spain", "America" are relevant to the present day. His son had contributed greatly to the development of urban Yerevan," Ashot Grigoryan, the director of the Museum of Architecture said.

Kostan Zaryan (1885-1969) entered the Armenian Literature, after he had written pieces in Russian and French, after having received fame and recognition in a foreign environment (Belgium, etc.). He was born in a family of General of the tsarist army Khachatur Eghiazaryants; after the death of his father, a child was taken away from his mother and put into foster care in the Russian family living in Baku. In 1905, after graduating from school in Paris, Kostan Zaryan went to Belgium to receive higher education. Only being 25-year-old the young writer started to learn the Armenian language. In July of 1919 Kostan Zaryan as a special correspondent for Italian newspapers was sent to the Caucasus and arrived in Armenia for the first time. Most of his life the writer lived and worked in Europe and the United States, but in April 1961 Kostan Zaryan following the advice of the Catholicos of All Armenians Vazgen I visited Armenia again and had numerous meetings with the people. A year later he and his family returned to their homeland and moved to Yerevan.
