Armenia resorted to decent methods to normalize ties with neighbors
Armenia has brought closer Armenian-Turkish rapprochement, President Serzh Sargsyan said today in his opening speech delivered at the annual meeting between MFA central staff and Heads of Armenian diplomatic missions abroad.
"As you are aware, we yesterday promulgated a statement on normalization of Armenian-Turkish ties, as well as two coordinated documents- Protocols on 'Establishing Diplomatic Ties Between Two Countries' and 'Developing Bilateral Relations'. Documents fully reflect the agreements achieved so far. Armenia brought closer Armenian-Turkish rapprochement, increasing international community's awareness and obligations," President noted, adding that Yerevan resorted to decent methods to normalize ties with neighbors.

"Promulgated projects reflect several realities i.e. agreements achieved do not contain any preconditions regarding Karabakh conflict settlement. Besides, as we already confirmed, historical issues between Armenia and Turkey will be considered by a sub-committee of an interstate commission vs. a committee of historians," RA President stated, noting that this is the first time in the history of independent Armenia when signature of an important international document is preceded by public discussions.
"To me, general activeness is very important. Everybody is required to assume an active role during public discussions in Armenia and Diaspora. We must clarify and submit Protocol clauses with all their positive and negative components," President stated.
