Yerevan to host International Shakespeare FestivalSeptember 9, 2009 - 16:11 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Yerevan will host International Shakespeare Festival on September 8-20. , This year, beside traditional solo performances, the festival will feature major stage works.Shakespeare Festival will present theater groups from Armenia, Russia, France, Georgia and Iran. A separate festival program will feature performance of Alexander Kalyagin and his "Et cetera" theater. Famous theater director Peter Brook's daughter, Irina Brook will present her staging of "Don Quixote", starring Zhirayr Babazian as Sancho Panza. Irina Brook's theater group includes 14 actors, 3 of them Armenians: Zhirayr Babazian, Hovnatan Avetikyan and Lori Baghdasaryan. 2 performances will be presented: Cervantes' "Don Quixote" and Shakespeare's "Waiting for a dream". Production director and actor Zhirayr Babazian is on tour in Yerevan on the invitation of RA Minister of Culture Hasmik Poghosyan and Theater Workers Union Head Hakob Ghazanchyan. Festival partners are Yerevan Mayor's Office, RA Ministry of Culture and Armavia Aircompany.
