GEORGIAN GENERAL STAFF HEAD: «THE STRONGER ARMENIA, THE STRONGER GEORGIA»

According to the report of «Arminfo» agency, head of the Georgian general staff lieutenant general Jony Pirtskhalaishvili, who is in Yerevan on a three-day working visit, stated it at the final press conference. Expressing satisfaction with the results of his visit to Armenia, the Georgian general emphasized that the military cooperation between Yerevan and Tbilisi was not directed against any third parties, but pursued the goal of enhancing the defensive capacity of the two states. It was noted that the Georgian defense minister would soon visit Armenia for more detailed discussion of the questions of bilateral cooperation. From his part chief of the general staff of Armenia, colonel general Mikayel Harutyunian noted that questions of deepening bilateral military cooperation, ensuring regional security, the prospects of interaction in the sphere of struggle against terrorism, the agreements reached in the course of the recent meeting of «the Caucasian four» security council secretaries, as well as the condition of the Armenian population in Georgia were discussed in the course of the Georgian party's visit. «Armenia is interested in preservation of stability in Georgia, as the main communications connecting us to Russia and Europe pass through the Georgian territory,» - Harutyunian noted. He added official Yerevan was ready to contribute to keeping the domestic stability in Georgia in every way, including with the aid of the Armenian population residing in the Georgian territory, too. «We are neighbors and should assist each other in every way,» - colonel general noted.
