Armenian fencers Michael Ghazaryan, Arkady Mouradyan and Edgar Avetisyan on October 1 started competing at the world championship in Turkey. Arkady Mouradyan and Michael Ghazaryan overcame the group barrier and went into the playoffs, but during first combats dropped out of the competition. 

Edgar Avetisyan having suffered 4 defeats in five matches, he failed to leave the group. 

Eventually Michael Ghazaryan took 85-th, Arkady Mouradyan - 104-th, and Edgar Avetisyan - 117 places.
