Students from NKR, Javakheti and Armenia to pay equal tuition fees at Armenian universities
Today Armenia's National Assembly passed through second reading amendments to laws "On education" and "On Higher and Post Graduate Education". Author of the law, MP from the "Prosperous Armenia" party Naira Zohrabyan familiarized with the amendments, which refer the Armenian students from Nagorno-Karabakh and the Georgia regions Samtskhe-Javakheti and Kvemo Kartli enrolled in Armenia's universities.
Thanks to the amendments students from these regions will pay the tuition equal to amount paid by Armenia's citizens. Naira Zohrabyan thanked colleagues and the government for supporting the bill and expressed hope that the law will go into effect fromAugust 1, 2010.
"Applicants applying to institutes of higher education in 2010-11 will be subjected to this law," said MP, responding to the question of a PanARMENIAN.NET reporter whether the law refers those who are already enrolled in higher education.
"This bill will help young people from Karabakh and Javakhk feel themselves full representatives of the Armenian people," member of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia Shirak Torosyan stressed.
