AZERIS INTERESTED IN LEVON TER-PETROSIAN'S RETURN TO POWER IN ARMENIA
Baku political scientists forecast return of former Armenian President Levon Ter-Petrosian to big politics. The authors of the survey consider Ter-Petrosian's forthcoming tour to Boston on the invitation of Harvard University Armenian student community as a sign of such a tendency. Baku watches the preparation to the visit with special attention and pins much hope on it. «Azerbaijan's leadership considers that Ter-Petrosian's return to power has its advantages,» - Chief of Foreign Relations Department of Azeri President's machinery Novruz Mamedov stated. In his words, «the former head of Armenia evaluated the processes taking place in the world and in the region more realistically, and in a certain way it could positively tell on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict resolution.» «Official Yerevan's statements that Nagorno Karabakh should be given independence or join Armenia convince all the observers there are no prospects for holding constructive negotiations. - Mamedov considers. - Thus a person like Ter-Petrosian coming to power would be desirable.»
