ARMENIA AND TURKMENISTAN PREPARE AGREEMENT ON TURKMEN GAS SUPPLY TO ARMENIA THROUGH IRAN
Armenian Ministry of Energy working group will leave for Turkmen capital next week to prepare the agreement on supplying Turkmen gas to Armenia through Iranian territory. Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Armenia to Turkmenistan Aram Grigorian reported it. In his words, the official message of Armenian President Robert Kocharian concerning the prospects of building Iran-Armenia gas pipeline and Turkmen gas transit to Armenia was passed to Turkmen President Saparmurat Niyazov in the course of the recent meeting. The agreement on Turkmen gas supplies to Armenia is expected to be signed in the course of the Turkmen President's coming official visit to Yerevan. The Ambassador also noted that questions of developing bilateral relations were also discussed at the meeting with the Turkmen President. In the Ambassador's words, Niyazov highly appreciated the friendly nature of the Armenian-Turkmen relations and said he was for raising bilateral trade-economic cooperation. Aram Grigorian emphasized that Armenian trade representation in the person of "Dvin" concern had opened lately in Turkmenistan and it would engage in working out programs of bilateral economic cooperation.
